andsome Posted February 15, 2006 Report Share Posted February 15, 2006 For the last few days only I have been getting a problem when I use Diskeeper 7. The message only appears when the computer has been running for a time, and does not occur for a time AFTER I reboot. Disc C is OK, the problem only occurs on Disc D. I have checked the disk with Scan disk and all is well. I have tried going back for three weeks in Acronis, and the problem is still there. andsome Posted February 16, 2006 Author Report Share Posted February 16, 2006 I have now had an answer to my e-mail.Dear Keith, Having forwarded this to our senior tech guys they have notified me that Diskeeper 7 is only really supported by the earlier releases of Windows XP (namely up to SP1). Whist Diskeeper may have worked with early releases of SP2 the incremental updates have made changes which do not allow Diskeeper to function correctly. I'm afraid that your choice really is to upgrade Diskeeper to a more recent version. You may of course try our fully working Trial of Diskeeper 10 from our website for 30 days. I may well have a look at Perfect disk now that I have Acronis. My version of Diskeeper is not the lite version, but the full version that has boot time defrag, which I have always found very useful. The suppliers were singularly unhelpful to me, more or less absolving themselves of responsibility for the mess their product had made to my machine. (It's a good job I make backups).Prior to that software, I used DisKeeper free version 7 but I found it didn't sit very well alongside WXP SP1 (although it worked OK with the original XP issue).Nowadays I use Diskeeper version 8 which I paid for and it does the job it's supposed to.
