Case speaker going crazy

Recommended Posts

I have a custom build with a gigabite mobo and pentium 4. After putting the computer though a stress, the internal case speaker starts to make a pulsating faint hum that is less than apealing. Any idea if it is in conj. with the os or the mobo? Seeing that its a case fan, wich is used primarily for diag. purpose, I think more so the mobo or memory?? Any help would be great.

The system speaker will not show up in Device Manager or Event Viewer.

As scuzzman says, it is likely defective. Disable it in the BIOS, or unplug it. If you want a system speaker, you can purchase a new one. They are extremely cheap.

Remember, the system speaker is like any normal speaker. Any magnetic interferance can and will cause noises. You should also check to see if the speaker has blown out.

Do the speaker cables pass through the ferrite ring? (normally supplied with the case, which all the other case cables should go through aswel. If not pass the cables trough the ring and see if that helps.
