I have tried seytting with a screensaver and at present without a screensaver, and as I say sometimes it works and sometimes it diesn't. Any solutions please? I get the problem whatever name I use., even the default ones. With all programs closed down, CPU usage runs at 0. My AV is set to only update twice per day, Mailwasher is set to only check for mail when I tell it to. In other words there would appear to be nothing to stop the monitor turning off. If your computer is not inactive, it will not turn off.Do you have an on-the-fly defrag program, like Diskeeper. Diskeepser is set NOT to run automatically, but only when I want it to. Nothing is now set to automatically go on line.
