Can you go into more detail about your issues?

What can't connect to the 'net.

Are you sure it isn't a loose connection?

It is next to impossible to uninstall Windows Firewall (without XPLite that is), so the next best is to disable it.

Disabling steps :

1. Open "Network Connections"

2. Right click your main connection.

3. Click "Properties"

4. Click "Advanced" (tab)

5. Click "Settings" (button)

6. Click "Off (not recommended)"

Windows Firewall will be disabled. Just click OK (never cancel) through all the dialogs.

As Bobp says you cannot remove Windows Firewall. You can turn it off, though this is not advised. You should also note that Windows Firewall does not block outbound traffic, only inbound, which means it protects you from hackers.

If you are having a problem accessing the internet, you may need to configure the firewall rather than turn it off.

I can't connect to internet, windows firewall is most of time the reson why people need to reinstall windows, why not uninstall windows firewall, its useless. My windows firewall IS DISABLED, but can't connect to internet. I right click on my internet connection and try to change windows firewall but i can't open it like i can't connect to internet and can't open any pages...i just see im connected..this is the same old story with any problems with windows firewall. Should i now reinstall windows and everything and than wait that windows firewall protects me soo that i can't go to internet. Any help would be great.

If the Windows firewall is disabled as you say, then it is not the reason why you can't connect to the Internet. Question:

  • How are you connected to the Internet?
  • What is your network adapter?
  • Is the network adapter driver enabled and functional?
  • Is there anything you can do on the Internet, e.g. ping?

If you do disable Windows Firewall, which most of us would agree is the best thing to do, as it is only one way, it is most important that you install and configure a third party firewall. I would highly recommend Zone Alarm. Only do this however AFTER sorting out your problem.
