16.29Mb for a firewall ! That's huge. If you can't configure it then there doesn't seem much point in keeping it, try one of the other free options :-

kerio

ZoneAlarm

R-Firewall

Yea but don't you have to pay for Kerio???? I installed it before hand and got to reading through the info in it and it sayed " 30 day trial " ... ;)

And i've already had Sygate, but now i can't reinstall it, I don't git it.!

Yes you have to pay for Kerio.

The reason Sygate cannot install may be because of an improper uninstalltion.

You can try the Sygate Userguide provided by Symantec, but since Sygate no longer produces the firewall, support is limited to Enterprise software.

What error do you get while trying to install?

 Well it's not so much an error when trying to install, it's afterwards when i've restarted and windows fires up again.

The error i get is Sygate just goes into Debugging mode and " Never Ever " comes back out of it.!! :censored:

DR Watson32 kicks into it saying that ( i think ):> "Fatal exception occurred" SMC.exe has generated errors and will now be closed by windows Because SMC.exe is the startup executable for the firewall program.

I don't know if it really matters now, I think i got this " Comodo " thing working now anyhow. :P :D

I can highly recommend Zone Alarm. Be careful during download and installation because you will be asked to select between FREE and FULL version at least twice, once on actual installation. During first use, EVERYTHING that wants to connect to the INTERNET will bring up a security warning. Just put a TICK in the remember this box and click either to deny or to agree. After that it works silently.

Yes you have to pay for Kerio.

Actually no you don't.

You get the full commercial version for 30 days at which point some of the additional bells and whistles de-activate and it functions as the free home user version. As nobody outside a commercial network environment is likely to need the bits that shut down, it's not a problem, the home free is fine.
