catgate Posted April 17, 2006 Report Share Posted April 17, 2006 I keep getting a message from my ZoneAlarm firewall that tells me jview is trying to connect to the internet. I have found that I have jview.exe and wjview.exe (and jview.lgc) in my Windows directory. I am not aware of having loaded these and googling leads me to the conclusion that they may not be as welcome as other things might be.Can anyone please give me some lowdown on this business.I am still having troubles with BB connections dropping out (even when not being used) leading to having to reboot inorder to reconnect and am wondering if these are connected to the problem in some way.OS W98SE2.00 gigahertz Intel Celeron8 kilobyte primary memory cache128 kilobyte secondary memory cache512 Megabytes Installed Memory81.89 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity71.65 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

catgate Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Share Posted April 17, 2006 Yes, andsome, I have seen a few similar but I am still left unsure of why it keeps popping up and wanting to connect to the internet. I am also curious to know how it has got onto my machine. During the running of the installation CD for my BB connection I get a thing called "Onecare" put onto my machine. It is an alleged diagnostic setup for monitoring the well being of my connection. However it loads on to my machine a number of things/progs. which are loaded into systray at bootup. These appear as :- Onecare, Motivdirectory, Motiivsb, Mpbtn and Dragdiag.In fact as I started to write this reply it popped up....Is it a friend of yours? :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I was working off line about half an hour ago, composing a reply to an email, when up popped the same request from Zone Alarm, jview wanted access to the internet. Do you know I have not seen the jview request today, nor have I experienced all the dropped connections that I have been having. You need degrees in logic, semantics and parsnip buttering to make any sense of it at all. At this time of night I am giving it a rest and I shall come back to it and have another go another day, but thanks for your help.I have spent most of the evening wrestling with Ubuntu Breezy Badger and Mepis.
