Postal Voting - Here we are again

It seems that there may be some "funny business" again in the Birmingham council elections with postal vote infringements in a certain community. I am loathe to label the community in question because I am not sure of the correct term in the latest PC Dictionary and Thesaurus.

Anyway - it seems that the security of the postal vote system is again being questioned and more changes are being muted.

Such as :-

Voting to be compulsory - like Australia - with long prison sentences for non-voters.

Electoral fraud shall be subject to the death penalty to ensure that we have no repeat offenders

Voting papers shall cost one pound each - the proceeds, less my commission of just 15%, being used as a prize to the winning party.

Voting for elections to be spread over two weeks to ensure that everyone has no excuse not to vote

Postal and proxy votes will be limited to the infirm who cannot travel to the voting place and those outside the country at the time. All such people must register in advance and have their applications properly scrutinised.

Candidates must have passed a UK citizen, literacy and numeracy test. This will keep out unsuitable people such as Prescott and Ali bin Spritzenschuffing.

On a serious front, I can see no basis for the extension of the postal voting system. It is clearly susceptible to fraud and suspicion of fraud.
