Thos
Welcome back. Sounds great. Except for the steam train bit. I never could understand the enthusiasm for them.Thos. You must have no soul. Even the comparatively humble steam traction engine is a wonderful piece of mans ingenuity. Steam upset the Luddites, but then some people do get upset. Even the Tolpuddle Martyrs were upset. I have often thought how luck they were not to have come from the next village down the road. It was called Tomm.I was born and brougt up in Crewe, the railway town of all railway towns. The big beasts used to thunder along the lines at the rear of our house, shaking it to the foundations and leaving black soot everywhere. My grandad was a shunter and most neighbours worked at "The Works" which was the railway fitting sheds, coming home with greased up overalls. Glamour? Oh, no. Just dirt and grease and hard graft.Thos.
