Alan2273 Posted June 23, 2006 Report Share Posted June 23, 2006 I downloaded Autoruns and did as suggested, then rebooted the computer to see what happened.Now when I go to switch user (there are only 2 accounts mine and the wifes) I get a box that is titled UNLOCK COMPUTER.In the box it says THIS COMPUTER IS IN USE AND HAS BEEN LOCKED, ONLY ********** OR AN ADMINISTRATOR CAN UNLOCK THIS COMPUTER, then it has my name in the user box and asks for a password.I have never set a password on this computer so I pressed enter and the box just came back.So the wife is a very annoyed as she cannot access her account.How do I unlock the computer, I have tried a system restore and no difference. Scarecrow Man Posted June 23, 2006 Report Share Posted June 23, 2006 Go to your screen saver, under display properties, and turn off: "On Resume, Display Welcome Screen"You may also want to go into the Power > Advanced section, and uncheck ask for a password when resuming from standby. Alan2273 Posted June 23, 2006 Author Report Share Posted June 23, 2006 All solved, edited the registry, put the tick back in the WGA box and had to put updates back to automatic.And thanks to Nell for this which pushed me in the right direction.Sheeshe.. I do apologise, this workaround is causing more trouble than it seems to be worth... you could try running autoruns and putting the tick back in the WgaLogon box.
