Rune Posted July 18, 2006 Report Share Posted July 18, 2006 Freshly installed XP-SP2 with all latest updates, Defender, ErrorSafe, SpywareDoctor, MSfirewall and NortonAV. 11 Mbps cable. Never any problem with pop-ups, but when I try to post an answer to a sertain www newspaperblog my IE 6.0 sometimes go totally crazy. The website starts to multiply in a new window so fast I cannot stop it, and within seconds I can get more than a hundred open and similar windows. The built-in popup-stopper in IE cannot handle it, and the only way to stop this hickup is to hard-shutdown IE (CtrlAltDel - Prossesses - IE shutdown). And fast. Can a scriptfault in the website really do this, or what? And more: Is this the right forum?I am a mind-over-matter-guy, and scan against whatever regularly, with the safetybelt on in the background. This multiplying do not look any good at all, so I have not had the nerve to see how many multiple windows my mashine really can handle before it gets out oxygen. If there ever was a rapid web-echo or mutateing something, this is it. Sometimes this is done intentionally (malicious), e.g. by adult websites, for whatever reason. Of course it can also be a bug, like probably in your case.Can you provide us with a link, so someone can test it, e.g. with another browser, or find a setting for IE that will prevent this from happening. To fix that go into your internet explorer settings and disable anything having to do with javascript/scripting. See if that helps. That form accepts html code and I'm pretty sure javascript. I typed in a bunch of basic tags in for html/javascript and bbcode and the bbcode was the only one to not work. It also seems to crash Iexplorer on the last page of the blog where I posted, but not firefox.
