rottie2 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Share Posted July 26, 2006 Hi, i'm a newbie so please bear with me.First - i wanted 2 help my dad sort a prob on his pc with remote assist, he could look at my pc but we couldnt connect the other way round, i think remote assist isn't installed with my windows components. I cant install it from the disc b'cos my ex has my disc, and i haven't been able 2 get anywhere with the web i'm going round in circles!!! what can i do? Should i buy a new xp pro? or should i buy the upgrade? I connect on broadband thro a router, but please dont tell me i need to portforward cos i keep stopping myself connecting 2 internet n get stressed!!! Home is quite adequate for by far the majority of users and the advantages of the Pro version are only seen in commercial, security conscious environments. You can't really manage with an upgrade unless you have a previous version of Windows for setup to refer to.If you think that a cure may be possible, post the problems on here and we'll see what can be done. I don't have my disc cos my ex has it ( thats y i thought i should just get a new one), and when i tried the internet i kept going round in circles. XP pro should have remote assistance and even if it doesn't some how you should be able to use remote desktop. That would probably help you more.
