r53s
If you have installed Firefox 1.506 on your Windows XP pro computer and it is not able to startup, probably you have an external usb hard drive attached to it. The solution is to first disconnect the hard drive, second boot up, and third: you have two options- 1- stay with Firefox if you don't need to back up anymore.2- Uninstall Firefox and the problem is solved, because, at least in my case they can't coexist... -pops-
Something of a generalisation, I think.I have that version of Firefox and I also have a USB hard drive installed.I don't have a problem with booting whether the drive is attached or not. May I suggest that your difficulties are either specific to your machine or are unconnected with each other. When you state you computer is not able to start up, what happens? Is the machine dead? Do you get blue screens?
Belatucadrus
Seems strange as looking through msconfig shows no entries from Firefox in the boot routine, so it would be interesting to know how it could clash with anything during start up.
