gordythegouge Posted August 10, 2006 Report Share Posted August 10, 2006 Basically..It started with a problem with the Music Collector Software I've been trying to use! Whenever I tried to scan the CD in the drive to add to database...the PC would crash and restart!I've been advised to try and repair XP by booting from my XP Pro cd. Unfortunately the PC freezes at various stages of this process and I have not been able to carry out this task. I've tried putting the XP Pro Disk in within windows and when I try the install Windows option, all I get is a message saying that this cannot be carried out due to the Windows on my PC being newer than the one on my disk! (SP2 on my PC)I was then advise to uninstall the drive to see if that was the problem but on restart It recognised the Hard Drive no problem and I assume that this is not the problem? Scarecrow Man Posted August 10, 2006 Report Share Posted August 10, 2006 You will want to boot into the recovery console and use the format command.You will need your administrator password to get into the recovery console, the just use the command "format C:\" (C:\ being your boot drive.)
