joysness
The most unfortunate thing is that it taints the truth about all the innocents that were killed.Maybe they got the idea from the US gov't.This story came out in the New York Times last year (sorry I don't have that link) http://www.truthout.org/cgi-bin/artman/exec/view.cgi/37/9592Nice eh? djohn
I thought most people knew a lot of these photos were staged, always have been to some extent. Its well documented that even as far back as WW2 this sort of thing was happening. I can't find the link at the moment but I do remember the US Marines where made to climb back on their landing craft durig the D day landings because the US film crew had not caputured their exit from the LC's and storming of the beach first time round. That is not the same thing that Reuters and other news organizations are doing. It is one thing to recreate an actual event and another to falsely stage an event or doctor photos in an attempt to sway public opinion. djohn
I wasn't having a go at the US armed forces deuces, far from it. As I think you know I was a Soldier, so was my wife and our son is in our most elite regiment, has been for the past 10 years. What I was annoyed at was the media risking the lives of those that had made it safely to the beach to then have to go back just so it could be caught on film as it was the old movie cameras they were using back then. Many of the lads who made it the first time died during the re-enactment, such a waste of life. A Soldier knows he is placing his life in harms way when he joins the armed forces, but that was not a Soldiers death, it was caused by the media, not the enemy.I know that many people do not agree with the war we are in now and I tend not to join in any debate for the reason my son has already done 2 tours in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan and about to go back there soon. beleive in this tragic war or not, support it or not, my son does his duty and we are proud of that where ever our country may send him.
