digler Posted November 3, 2006 Report Share Posted November 3, 2006 Hi,I have XP Pro installed on my laptop that is not a legit gopy but have XP home key sticker on the bottom which I intend to use.Is there a way I can re install XP Home over XP Pro and keep the settings or do I have to wipe everything off and start again? Everything seems to be working fine and I am now able to get all of the microsoft updates.One thing i did notice was when XP was being copied it strugled on a couple of files and asked if I wanted to retry, which worked, but the file driver.cab would not work and I continued anyway. Check if all your device drivers are correctly installed (Device Manager, from Control Panel | System | tab Hardware | Device Manager). If yes, then I wouldn't worry too much.
