Irene Posted November 25, 2006 Report Share Posted November 25, 2006 Good MorningI recently installed AVG Free Anti-Virus & Spyware. Also, I have installed ZoneAlarm Free Firewall. However, when I booted up this morning, ZA popped up with a warning about a server trying to access my pc... the name was "OTi Content Service". I suspect it was to do with an update to my AVG. I allowed the update to happen, but was subsequently a little concerned about my decision! Does hnyone have any experience of this? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-pops- Posted November 25, 2006 Report Share Posted November 25, 2006 Have you Googled the OTi Content Service?There are varying opinions as to what it is or does but, I have never heard of it or been troubled by it. It certainly is not part of AVG.I deny access to anything/everything brought up by my firewall unless I know what it is or does (or can find out easily). If in doubt disallow the access, but DON'T tick the remember this action box. You can always change your mind later. Another thing about Zone Alarm, is that after the first install it will warn you about every intrusion attempt. This is of course of little interest since the firewall has prevented access in any case, so you can click on not to receive such messages in future. Irene Posted November 25, 2006 Author Report Share Posted November 25, 2006 I just did a Google Search. Unfortunately I didn't really undertand too much of it! It mentioned the filename UStorSrv.exe. What I saw when I Googled didn't give me a lot of concern - shown by the people's comments that they weren't sure about what it did.It's always advisable to do a A/V and other anti-malware scans if you have the slightest suspicions about something being amiss. I thought that I had allowed access, but maybe I didn't. Maybe I shouldn't be allowed to run amok on the internet! ZoneAlarm is new to me and I'm not used to being warned of these incidents. I think I've been living in 'cloud cuckoo land', blissfully unaware of these access requirements. I'll try not to be so reactive next time and consider more carefully.
