Lamb Chop
Depressing reading - our health service is in the doldrums too.In fact the problem seems to be universal. Not only health but every business seems to be cutting staff and upping productivity to save money and where does the saved money go?In the pockets of the top management. The rich get richer and the poor subsidize them One problem we have here and I reckon there in UK to these days is that top ppl only put in a tax return at the end of the year.Meaning they all get their monies intact - no PAYE like us peons, so can use it all year to make even more money, pay an accountant to legally minimize their tax, and that means some like the late Kerry Packer paid a total of income tax $30 over the course of 3 years and on being brought before a Senate enquiry he was found to be legally able to minimize, and also stated that until the Government spent 'his' money more wisely he refused to 'donate' any more. Now problem here is that too many think Oh he is a good guy - gives a whole lot of money to charities, (ours anyway I reckon) and makes jobs.As if he wouldnt have worked anyway to increase his billions, and thereby made jobs - like get real - too many like him collect say $100K off each of their cosy Board Jobs and live high on the hog whilst the peons pay away a far higher percentage of their wages every week and fight to get any back at the years end.so nothing gets done to alter the status quo.Me, I think fairness is every single person has PAYE deducted out of their pay for any employment and then puts in a Tax Return years end to get back what they can.Meanwhile the government has the use of it for health, education and any other purpose for the whole population. But then Im old fashioned. andsome
It's what I've said time and time again on here. Too much wastage and squandering of funds at the top, and have been accused in return of being a Maggie lover etc, although quite what relevance such a statement has I don't understand. I say it again, GET RID OF MOST OF THE MANAGERS, and let matron and the senior medical staff run the hospitals. Recently there has been a perfect example. In Wolverhampton the eye infirmary, which has done a sterling job over the years is shortly to be closed, and yet senior staff were sent abroad to a luxurious hotel conference for a conference. What the hell was wrong with holding it in one of the hospital offices? This hospital is one of the few NOT loosing money, in spite of this recent junket.
