Finalf4ntasy
Is there any way of using my digital camera as a webcam? It's a Canon 4.0mp PowerShot A85.Thank you.
-pops-
I don't think so.Webcams are usually cheap and cheerful items and I don't think I would want to use a reasonably good quality digicam as a webcam.Lloyds Pharmacies are selling a "home security kit" including a webcam at the moment for £9-99.Not the absolute highest quality but quite reasonable for normal webcam use. dadyassa
Sometimes I use my Sony camcorder as a webcam with msm, but no sound.I have never tried with my camera, although it does take short videos, by just hold the button down so I assume it would work the same, the only problem maybe the power and length of time the camera can video for.Why not just try it out and see ?Or like pops saye they are very cheap now. rong
Some cameras have the facility to be used as web cams, I don't know if yours can, but if it can it would say (be written) in the manual. My old Nikon could be set up through a television like a CCTV, so I suppose that's the same thing.
babysun
It might be done with A520 but I guess not with A85. It would be a better option to go with a actual webcam. They are cheap nowadays.
