Problem with IE7

I am back with IE7 now and doing this post actually on FF1.5 as I cant get out with IE7.

For some reason it does not recognize that I am connected to the Internet - every time I go to favourites and click onto this forum for example, it puts up the new IE7 connect window, then it puts up the window you get if you go to connections on start page, and then it says cant connect.

Weird.

Any suggestions welcome.

I am frustrated too as my Firefox hasnt got any of my favourites on it as bookmarks, only a few, so have to go back and forth to get url's.

so any FF experts - how can I import all IE favorites into FF?

Tried the import on tab at top - nothing happened but I am not much cop with FF as usually used IE6 in preference.

Import bookmarks from IE:

Click on Bookmarks -> Organize bookmarks -> File -> Import -> click on the source from which you want to import and follow the instructions.

Made it more complex than it should be.

I Internet options/programs. make sure that IE is the default browser. I had this problem when I tried FF.

IE7 still is default browser.

I have now updated to FF2.0 and am using it as still cant connect out on IE7.

Have had an awful time lately but no absolutely no spyware virus's all caught and buried in vaults never to return to this world.

Yewsterday had all my fonts go tiny and the task bar and everything around the place go huge. Did everything to try to get back to normal.

Then restore. Worked. Still dot know what is happening.

Now if I rollback to IE6 will I still get updates from microsfot, they did say on the update to IE7 could roll back, but thought that I had read that if you didnt go with it - they wouldnt update you.

Still have this problem with the connection widows that pop up.

The one that pops up first is changed by IE7 and that is the problem I think as it then goes to the one that pops up if you go via connections on the start page - never did this before and this was what was happening with the first download of IE&7 must be a program fault as I downloaded it all over again. unlike FF which I had tucked away in my special file for downloaded programs and uninstalled the 1.7 and then installed the 2.0 just in case it was causing problems but no.

So I will have to rollback or use FF forever.

What was surprising since I had uninstalled - was that the 2.0 which I had thought was maybe a part to be installed over the top of 1.7 - which is what I didyesterday, and then did Pops thing with the favourites from IE7 and then had to manually delete the old ones and got left with From Internet Explorer.

Well on installing FF2 AFTER uninstalling and completely removing FF1.7 - which I had to do as it wouldnt respond whatever I did, there were the favourites all ready from IN7. Clever these computers, some of the time anyway when no gremlins are about ;)

By the way I have IE6 in my programs file - I think - well it is a shortcut.

Maybe just install it over the top of IE7 and hope it all stays stable, as I feel it is a bit unstable currently.

I wouldn't try to install IE6 over IE7 - or maybe I misread your post?

What I would do is right-click on the IE7 icon on your desktop | Properties (or open Internet Options from Control Panel). Tab Connections, then click Setup. This will guide you through the setup wizard, where you specify your Internet connection. Hopefully this should fix your problem.

Nope Pat that didnt fix the problem. In fact I couldnt get a connection using the wizard and had to go back to original one to connect.

Got the unable to connect due to user name or password being incorrect. Checked and both were fine and same result.

I wasnt going to install over the top anyway. Only way I know of getting rid of IE is to restore back to when it wasnt downloaded. Or is there

IE7 is cutting off my internet connection when I click onto favourites, must have been doing this all the time and that is why it is trying to connect. But then it cant connect.

Must be something in the program surely. Had it exactly the same on previous download, but then it didnt stay long enougn on screen - the connect window and just flashed on and off.

I cant be the only one with this problem if I have had it on two seperate downloads of the program. Or else I have a particular problem on my compouter is only other reason I can think of.

I have made FF my default for now as cant use IE7.

I have had other problems wince downloading IE7 - with email, had to upgrade that and other utilities. all done now.

But I have had system problems too - size of icons went huge at top and bottom of windows window, welcome changed, had to restore a day to get rid of that problem as couldnt sort it out anyhow - tried.

And why did they alter the connections window that comes up first, and why then does the second one come up in order to connect - still happens even with FF as default. So IE7 program affects connections.

Any other suggestions? :D .

Ok I have given up and rolled back to IE6.

Since then my connection problems are all gone.

My email program and my spell checker are actually working - were dodgy there for awhile.

I dont have this nasty always scanning sound on the hard drive when Task Manager says othing is running. Spooky

so all in all has fixed the problem.

goodness knows since I actually tried a fresh download after uninstalling IE7 from Remove on control panel. Still it didnt stop playing up on the second or actually now I think about it, third download, so something in the program is not working with my computer system.
