Coreper Posted January 18, 2007 Report Share Posted January 18, 2007 hi,when i turn my computer it just works properly, but the Welcome-Logon screen stays very long on screeni never actually had a problem like this before so, i hoped you guys could help methe time i must wait is 45 sec, before it switches to the desktop [then it starts loading all my settings]this is kinda weird because ive got a AMD Athlon X2 X64 Dual Core 2.2 Ghz Processor...please help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You could try disabling your network connections or maybe unplug them and reboot and see if you pick up speed. This is after you enter your password right? -pops- Posted January 18, 2007 Report Share Posted January 18, 2007 A failing PSU can easily cause long startup times - which get longer and longer, eventually requiring a restart during the startup before failing completely.What I do though, is switch my machines on when I get up in the morning then go and make a hot drink. I have no idea what the actual startup time is.i actually always do that too [in the morning i brush my teeth, and in the afternoon i unpack my backpack [unloading my schoolbooks and stuff]but i just think its strange that it must load this low, because i have a very fast processor... cozofdeath Posted January 19, 2007 Report Share Posted January 19, 2007 Yeah its a network type of problem in my opinion. Plus you have xp pro so it must load additional programs and services before loading not including your user profile and policy settings. Have you tried disabling the network connections and restarting? Many startup programs check for sockets/dns querys/arps/dhcp/Netbios/NBT querys/ICMP querys etc, slowing your boot up. That can somewhat be checked by disabling services and startup programs or selecting a diagnostic startup type through msconfig. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
