saga Posted January 20, 2007 Author Report Share Posted January 20, 2007 Thanks!I do have Win98 SE, so could I still run Avast then (I does in fact only list Win98 not SE)?Also, computer-dummy-me simply deleted my last AVG (Norton) instead of using the uninstall-program. -pops- Posted January 20, 2007 Report Share Posted January 20, 2007 Please don't equate AVG and Norton - they aren't the same thing at all.There is a Norton removal tool available and others here will be able to tell you how to use it (I refuse to have anything to do with Norton - I don't even like typing the word).As you have 98SE you will be able to install the new version of AVG which you can get from here. It does its job so what mre do you want?Make sure you set it to scan regularly.I have just had an inexplicable (to me) occurence with AVG, pops.I posted a question on this topic several days ago, and both you and dadyassa pointed me to the link above. When I tried to download the file from the Grisoft site on to my standby W98SE machine, the site told me that it was unsuitable for this computer. I had previously got the same message when trying to update the AVG 7.1, which was already on the machine.Today I downloaded the AVG 7.5 onto my Linux machine with no trouble at all. I shoved it onto a CD and put that into my W98SE machine. It downloaded readily onto the hard drive from where it ran faultlessly, and I was able to do the "Repair" bit with no trouble at all.So I now have AVG 7.5 up and running.
