does anyone know how to change your IP adress, AND keeping the internet working?

thanks

if you want to know: i've got the Alcatel Speed Touch modem [its dutch, i think]

If your ISP assigns you a dynamic IP address it'll change every time you dis/re-connect.

Why do you want to change it ?.

i thought this might help me to improve my security, because zonealarm used to log 1400 blocked intrusions in less than 1 month!

i also got a message that my modem tried to send me a package containing virussen [dont know the name anymore, maybe i will if you name a example]

btw: will this help to improve my security?

and reconnecting wont work, my ip stays: 10.0.0.152

Your IP address from what I can see here is 80.60.106.238

To check if you have a dynamic address, log off the Internet with your ISP and log on again. I will then the address for you.

BTW, the address I have quoted here is not private - anyone can see it if they want to.

Here are some details about it:

Planet Technologies

address: Stationsstraat 115 (visit address)

address: P.O. box 3053

address: 3800 DB Amersfoort

address: The Netherlands

phone: +31 30 6588612

I think that may be for the support group only.

how can you see that?

and how can i easily change it, because i already tried, but removing my internet cable doesnt work

btw: i want to change the ip of THIS computer, not the modem [if that clears anything]

You can get a router, which will allow you to change your computer IP address to anything you want, while your router recieves an IP address assigned by the modem.

Sorry I was probably in the middle of writing / editing it when you read.

i already knew that i needed to change my IP trough the router, but i dont have a clue how to do that! [i've got Alcatel Speedtouch]

Try this site: http://www.speedtouchdsl.com/

To set a manual IP address you will need to turn off DHCP and assign a pool of addresses to use for computers.

Changing your IP address will not lessen the intrusions; these intrusions are directed to all existing IP addresses. Just make sure that your firewall is active at all times!
