I much prefer to defrag on a regular basis, and just occasionally run Check disk. I also use Crap Cleaner on a daily basis, and keep my AV and Anti Malware programs up to date. Another useful tool to run occasionally is to be found HERE..

I couldn't aggree more with the observations of pops. The tools that I have mentioned will do anything that these that you have mentioned will, and do it safely.

Read what -pops- says above ........ his advice is sound ....... but personally I have used TuneUp Utilities for almost 3 years with no problems.

I make use of its Registry Cleaner, System Optimiser and RegistryDefrag tools on a weekly basis, the other features less frequently.

I have never had any reason to make use of its built in RescueCentre - but this feature allows you to easily undo any changes that you have made to the Registry and subsequently want to reverse.
