andsome
Probably a blip. I have had it happen on a very very rare occasion. Have a look in Control Pane/User Accounts/User Accounts/Change the way users log on or off
-pops-
I've had this blip happen as well and found, like you, that a reboot put things back to normal. It then doesn't happen again for many months (during which time you've forgotten about it) and bingo, it asks again. It's all a secret plot by Bill Gates to make you buy vista :D

-pops-
That's not happened to me but, if it did, I would restore from backup.

rong
Did you set a password when you set up the computer? if you didn't then you haven't got one, if you did you should have remembered it.This was produced so that artist didn't think no one cares. artist
:D Seriously don't try to put in a password, leave it blank and click OK.No good - it wants the old one..........What it does say, though, is that the password hint is on The welcome screen beside the password prompt. rong
The first part was serious, as I never set passwords on installing OS's but have on occasion been asked.
andsome
If you set a password and it wants it, how are you managing to get in, or have I misunderstood?
artist
When I rebooted it was fine - it just made me look for the password just in case.I had it written down and have found some of the xp gumph. I suppose I put it in a safe place. It's hubby's - fault he should know where I put it. I always say - 'look I'm putting it (whatever) here so it's safe' :D
