Maybe I'm not a natural gardener after all. :(If you don't want to use dangerous chemicals, and want to give Ladybirds and other predatory insects a chance, use an organic soap based spray late in the evening when the predators have gone to bed. rong Posted June 1, 2007 Report Share Posted June 1, 2007 When you say greenfly! do you mean one or ten per bush, or do you mean 50 -100 per bud? if one to ten just ignore them if 50-100 then either take them of with your fingers or I would spray them. I look after/have looked after allot of roses and in the last 14 years have only used insecticide about 3 or 4 times so it's not that bad to have a few as the preditors should catch up pretty quick at this time of year. Well, bearing in mind that I hate creepies, when I got close enough to see, I would think that say 10-20 per bud on just some of the buds. Yuk... it gives me the creeps just thinking about it. Maybe I'm not a natural gardener after all. :(The best way to tackle this problem is to look in Delia or Nigella and find some recipes for greenfly stew, greenfly au gratin or some such.
