Every time I start windows Up and try and view "My Computer" "Start Menu" or "Browse" (FOR ANYTHING) I get f***ing FROZEN and I have to restart.And for all you peachy homos who think SAFE MODE can fix it, guess again! 'cause everytime I enter safe mode - ANY safe mode - it restarts my f***in computer and I don't get a god damn thing done.I need my windows to get up and running again SOON. I am not getting along with Ubuntu and if I can just get to my antivirus and my User CPL I will be OK, but I NEED SAFE MODE!And another thing! My stupid-ass WinXP disk says that I need some other disk or some such s***, so I can't use that either.HELP ME!!!!!!!PLEASE! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

avgjoe22 Posted March 11, 2007 Author Report Share Posted March 11, 2007 When I start up windows, my icons don't all load up, it's extremely slow, I get frozen in explorer - all these go back to a virus, I'm 99% sure of it.Please excuse all the swearing, but I am very, VERY stressed out.My main difficulty is safe mode.It won't go through. If I can get to safe mode, I can run S&D. If I can run S&D, I should be able to create a new account, delete the old one, and resume using windows.I just need help with safe mode....and anger management. cozofdeath Posted March 11, 2007 Report Share Posted March 11, 2007 With not knowing how much access you can get out of your machine before it freezes the only thing I can think of is using a live boot cd with a virus scanner. http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/It has 4 well known free virus scanner as well as tons of very useful tools. I would also suggest running sfc /scannow from a command prompt or Run. Because its most likely malware or a corrupt basic MS service/file if it does the same in safe mode. Hope something here helps. If something is wrong with Windows there is little point in loading another O.S, for the same reason that if there is something the matter with I.E, there is little point in switching to FF or any other browser. If there is a problem it either needs correcting if possible or Windows reinstalling from scratch. Once everything is OK with the computer, then is the time to think about changes to browsers and operating systems. Millions use the standard operating systems and browsers with no bother at all, and others choose to run different systems, but the thing is that the computer, whatever is running, needs to be running correctly. mcb2001 Posted March 15, 2007 Report Share Posted March 15, 2007 Have you tried, after you booted, and standing at the desktop (which curriusly enough dont have icons) to press CTRL+ALT+DEL, and then click "start new process" type in "cmd" and press enter...Then use the good old DOS commands to enter your S&D folder and run the program? I am thus closing the thread with a view to deleting it in the next day or so if there is still no response. Bad language, even if it is disguised by asterisks and other symbols is no way to get a reasoned response from other forum members, even if one's temper is somewhat frayed.
