Crystal SF (WDM) Audio Driver

Recommended Posts

Hi

My laptop is constantly running 24hours a day. It seems for the past couple of weeks and especially over night. Never in the day, it keeps coming up with the windows error message that something has gone wrong and do i want to send a report or not.

Having opted for the 'send a report' it came back with a page saying tha there was a problem with my Crystal SF (WDM) Audio Driver.

Ive found the audio driver and tried to update it under my computer, propertys, device manager and then found the driver. Right clicked it to update the driver..It comes back saying theres no further updates.

Why is my laptop behaving like this ? Anyone help please

Thanks

Steph

You most likely have corrupt driver rather than an out of date one. In this situation, you could try re-installing from the software disk which you should have had with the machine (not the operating system disk).

What is the make / model of your computer? I see from your post you mention IBM, but what model (A21e, A22e, etc..)

Don't use this it's just an example:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-43260.html

If yo go to that site, it has instructions on how to download and install. Does the site you are downloading from have something similar?

Thanks Alan..

I came to the laptop this morning to find it powered up but no reponse from it. The screen was turned off and even hitting the keys didnt bring it back to life..It was as if it was in hibernation/sleep mode but it wasnt...

The power light was on..nothing else. I had to press and hold the power button for about 5-6 seconds to close it down .. THen powered up fine.

It seems to throw a wobbly when inactive over a substantial period..ie overnight..

Any ideas?

Its an IBM Thinkpad T20..Looked on the IBM site, could'nt find the link ?

That's because IBM is trying to confuse you.

System x, BladeCenter, IntelliStation Pro, and IBM Monitors are IBM products.

ThinkPad, ThinkCentre and other PC products are products of Lenovo.

http://www.lenovo.com/ is the site you want. Not http://www.ibm.com ..... go figure.

Thanks Alan..

Turn off standby mode in the Power Options.

Start > Control Panel > Power Options

turn off monitor and hard disks can be set as you please, but leave standby as never.
