Not much of a problem you would have thought......no, but could I find the installation disk that came with my ethernet card that had the drivers on it........no I couldn't. Without those drivers I couldn't get onto the net to do a search!! So I was well and truly up the creek without a paddle.Then I had a thought!!! :huh: Yes I do sometimes...... anyway, I suddenly remembered that I had backed up my drivers and saved them to disk about a month previously. I found the disk and lo and behold there were all my drivers.... including the ones I needed for my ethernet card.Moral of the tale.......... back up your drivers.You can download WinDriversBackup for free here.Windriverbackup Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Shirley_Crabtree Posted July 20, 2003 Report Share Posted July 20, 2003 I think Nellie2 has made a good point.I,personally wouldn't go back to 98 or 98se,but she felt the need to,as XP presented many problems which she couldn't surpass!!Backing up drivers is always a good idea....it's better than finding that you don't have the drivers to get online to download the drivers you need that are only available online!!Cheers.Shirl. mark2 Posted August 1, 2003 Report Share Posted August 1, 2003 Just had to install 98 back on a friends laptop 233mhz , massive 32mb ram :D so will be backing up his drivers to disc somehow.He had ME on it, running like treacle in winter, not a whole lot quicker now tho. Very few IT guys I speak to are willing to install XP on their machines. We are flatly refusing to do so at the college I work at. We have tried, after being pressed, but it is so full of bugs when put onto a large network.I appreciate that for home use it seems to be sitting well with most users, but just have a trawl around various companys and you will not find it installed in very many.
