Coreper Posted April 20, 2007 Report Share Posted April 20, 2007 ive been having this problem since...ever it never caused any troubles, and it still doesnt, but i never had it beforemy problem:i keep having the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray: it shows my hard-disk [ WDC WD2500KS-00MJB0 ]my hd is a Western Digital 250 GB disk [seperated in 2 partitions: C: [windows and programs] and F: [data] ]i have seen any other computer showing the HD in the Safely Remove Hardeware panel...my HD is set to: Optimized for performance, and the Device Manager says it works correct...how can i hide my HD from the Safely Hardware Removal panel, and keep the panel away?orhow can i stop my HD from showing in the SHR panel?please help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dagwoood Posted April 20, 2007 Report Share Posted April 20, 2007 Hi Coreper. You're seeing the Safely Remove Hardware icon in your notification area because your hard drive is a SATA drive. One of the benefits of a SATA drive is called Hot Plug n Play, which basically means you can safely remove the drive even if your system is running(not advisable to do if the drive in question has your operating system on :) ).I think you can remove the icon by right clicking the notification area and select properties. If there isn't a tick in the Hide inactive icons box, put one in, then click the Customize button. Find the entry for Safely remove hardware and in the behavior column to the right, click on it and a drop down menu will give you the option to always hide.HTH, dagwoood. andsome Posted April 20, 2007 Report Share Posted April 20, 2007 You can also get this icon if you use an external plug in hard drive, or some types of printer.
