Boris
Does ME have the equivalent of Win98's StartUp folder under Start Menu programs ?I've got a couple of Windows apps that I want to start automatically when ME boots, but even though I've manually created the folder and put the short cuts there - nothing happens ! Snec
Boris, the Start Menu folder is in C:\Windows. You will find it by doing Search if you can't go straight to it otherwise.S

Boris
I've sorted it out myself in the end - thanks for help. For some unexplained reason ? my StartUp was a hidden/system folder, so I was trying to use a duplicate one - which presumably was why it didn't work !I have also found out that autoexec.bat is ignored by ME - which explains why the AVG "Check Boot Virus" wasn't appearing each reboot.mark2 - "I never let anything start automatically except AV and firewall" - these were only a little diary/reminder prog called Ample Notice - I just can't remember anything these days  until I see what today's reminders are - + Quicken Bill Minder so I don't go too overdrawn (again) :D
