Coreper
this isnt a problem, but more a question or something like that:i have noticed something weird a while ago, and i would like to know how its possiblei noticed that i have 49 MB memory too much!ill explain:when you start your computer you see how much memory you havei have got twice 512 MB and once 1 GB [1024 MB]together that makes 2048 MB, but my computer indicates 2097.152 MB at the startup [the BIOS loading screen]so i actually have 49.152 MB to much!, not that i mind but mostly you have less memory than you actually should havehow can this be possible? did i just buy great memory or what?[btw: windows does also show that i have more than 2048 MB of memory[attached the image]
rong
Your graphics card will have its own ram, that could/ will be added on.
CurlyWhirly
this isnt a problem, but more a question or something like that:i have noticed something weird a while ago, and i would like to know how its possiblei noticed that i have 49 MB memory too much!I also have too much memory showing in WTM, I should have 1536 MB showing as I have 1.5 GB of RAM but I have the figure 1,572,340 so the only conclusion that I can come up with is that WTM counts memory in 1000 multiples instead of the usual 1024 as then 1536 x 1000 = 1,536,000 which is quite close to the 1,572,340 in WTM.It can't be including my graphics card memory as my Radeon X850 comes with 256 MB of video memory and if this was included then the figure would be a lot more than is shown in WTM. dagwoood
I agree with CW; I think it's to do with what task manager considers the value of a kilobyte is.Here's a screen print of WTM from my system and I have 2GB of RAM:As you can see Coreper, my value is quite close to the value you have. Coreper
yeah...weird though...but i dont think it is caused by counting in 1000 instead of 1024...my graphics card's memory cant be added up neither, because i have 2x 256 MB [then i would have much more]
Chris
I think it's more to with; They cannot accurately place 512MB of RAM on a DIMM. Remember no two things can be the same and all that and there will be differences on the DIMM. So when you buy 512MB of RAM...you will get that, but not exactly. Coreper
yes, i knew that, but i always thought you would get less [never had this much more...]
Sakura
Hi :) The Ram count you see on your "black boot screen" is produced by your Motherboard chip so you will seePhysical memory 2048mbSwap space 3941mb approxVirtual memory 5989mb approxAnd depending on your Motherboard, your Motherboard Chip Set, Everest (system diagnostics software freeware) will show you the exact numbers for your system. (don't know if i am allowed to post links)Everest clean site download > Everest 2.20 from Major Geeks
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
(don't know if i am allowed to post links)There is a reason why there is a 'Insert Link' button on the edit panel -> it allows you to post links No worries, as long as you don't post links to malware, you are free to post any useful or useless links.
