Dotcom Crash

In the mid - late 1990's it seemed like every entrepreneur was trying to start an Internet based business and, whilst successful for a time, there were far too many businesses for the relatively small number of Internet enabled customers at the time. Million/billions/gazillions of £/$/¥ were invested and lost. Only the very strongest survived.

After that there was a more measured approach and businesses which we have known for a long time saw the potential of the Internet and started using it in a sensible fashion rather than the bull-at-a-gate methods at the start.

One company that comes to mind that still survives the first crash is Amazon but off-hand, I can't recall any others but there must be some, obviously.
