Irene
I have a ring which belonged to an uncle who died some 30-odd years ago.It is made from a very light alloy.Engraved on one one side of the shank it says 1914, on the other it says 1915.I have no idea what the symbol is on the face, let alone the shape of the face itself. Can anyone enlighten me? Look here ..................

Irene
Thanks DW, that is fascinating reading (for me). I just wish I knew the history of the ring. Sadly, there is no one around to ask any more. :(
Thos
I, too, thought Cross of Lorraine, but thought the horizontal bars should be equal until I read the Wikipedia link. Because of the unusual shape, it looks as though the ring has been made specially to fit that face and the 1914 and 1915 dates deepen the mystery. You need a Sherlock Holmes to sort that one out.Thos.
