This is about System Restore: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 and you can undo the restore if it does not solve the problem.

System restore will only affect system files - and not data files stored in the My Documents folder.

Hence any programme updates or system changes after the restore point are removed.

For IE - you can expect to find that your browsing history, possibly your favourites, your security and other settings which have changed since the date of the restore point will be back-dated. Retained passwords and retained log-on info for websites will also be back-dated.

I have found that it will back-date your anti-virus data and some Microsoft and other programme updates will not be retained - but others are. Not sure which and why. Any programmes installed after the restore point will be "uninstalled" and the registry will be changed to its state at the restore point.

I have used system restore a number of times and have never lost data - but as I have described in another thread - all my data, Email, pictures, favourites etc are stored on the D: drive and are not affected by system restore. Having said that - I am sure that if they were still on the C: drive they would still escape the attention of system restore.

this is freaky...

it all seems to be al right suddenly: the search engine returned to Google...

really weird

the only things i did was install a few programs and uninstall them later because i didnt like them [they are not related to IE or anything related to the internet...]

and i didnt use System Restore...!
