IE7 -- want to open all tabs every time

Does anyone know of a way (or some sort of add-in) that will open my default (home) tabs everytime I open IE? I mean, if I open it with the IE icon, it opens them... but if I type in a URL in an email, or in the "Run" line, it only opens that one site in one tab... but I want all of them to open all the time everytime. Is this possible?

Please help!

Thanks!

Jeff

If you click on the little square next to the address box it brings up a page where you can control tabbed browsing.
Pushkin, I don't see which square, to which you refer.

Neither do I. But I know you can change the behavior of tabs from the Options menu....though it doesn't have an option for this type of behavior. That's why I was looking for (and hoping for) some sort of Add-in that would allow it.

I just remembered an alternative method, which was discussed in a thread some time ago..

If you go to Tools, Internet Options, in IE7, you can then enter the web pages of the tabs which you wish to open each time you start IE7.

Like this....

I only have Google, but you can add as many as you like. :D

Irene - did you try hovering over the square or clicking on it?
If I hover over the square, it says "New Tab (Ctl+T).

If I click on it, it opens a new tab with my home page, which is what I would do if I wanted to keep the page I'm on, whilst opening another.

Ok. maybe I didn't explain everything right.

I have IE setup to open about 7 different tabs everytime I start IE by itself.

But if IE isn't already open and I click on a link in an email or something like that, then it doesn't open those same tabs. It only opens the one site that I clicked on but no tabs. I want the tabs to ALWAYS open even if I click on a single tab.

Don't know about IE7, but in Firefox in the options you can stipulate that links open in a new tab rather than a new window, is this what you want? and can it be done in IE7.

No, I want alll my tabs to open every single time IE is opened....whether it's opened by clicking the blue "e" on the desktop, or by clicking a link in an email. The point is, if IE isn't already open, and you click a link in an email (just as an example) the only tab that will open is the link you just clicked. None of the "Default tabs" will open unless you open up IE by itself.

And besides, I doubt that FireFox does what I want it to do either...and I wouldn't use it because of it's incompatibilities that it has. Everything is written for IE (unless it is written for any other specific browser) so there are no incompatibilities there.

I wasn't suggesting that you should use FF, I was just seeing if I could help and as I don't use IE I can only comment on FF.

I know, I wasn't saying that you were implying that. I was just adding my two cents worth about FF. I've been in the computer industry for many years and have used many different products. OS/2 flavors, different browser flavors (I used to use only NetScape before IE version 3) and I know what works best.

Everything has flaws and security issues despite what the popular belief is. I'm just one of those people that can't stand it when people say things when they don't know what they're talking about like "Macs don't get viruses" or "FireFox doesn't have security flaws"

:D

Delve deeper, I have just changed my setting and the three tabs I had open when I closed FF opened from my short cut and from an e-mail link with the link as a fourth tab. (Still not suggesting a change to FF by the way)

I use Opera so can`t answer your problem either, but I think you will find that any good site is made to show to its best ability on any browser nowdays ;)
