Net Connection cut after some hour?!

Hello again!! :)

Oh well... I feel like I need help every half year for my Windows!! ;)

Okay, I now start.

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate ~2 months ago. Then, after ~1 month ago, I installed Firefox 2.

Now, I think, during ~1 month, I have a Net-connection cut issue. My Net-Connection on the OS goes away!! Not in the Router. This occurs after ~5 hours, but every time at around ~5 hour. But, in yesterday and today, I noticed that my Net connection cut after 1:30 hour!! :0 (This day... I had some "weird" cut: after 1:30, my Net just looked like it ran away!! But then I watched the Net Connections, then there it Adobe Version Cue too - I clicked into it, and then my Windows Explorer froze, but the Adobe window came away. I clicked into "Start" or something in the window, nothing happens, then closed it. I then ran Firefox and it had Net connection!! Weird. And it looked weird too. Maybe I just the page had an issue, not with my net today. Weird after all. [Oh, also, later I opened again that Version Clue CS3, Explorer froze again, and I looked at the Stop button!! Wow. I Stopped it.] After then, in ~ 5 hours my net cut off again.) This can be easily fixed by a restart, though. But it takes a lot of time - I need to save my work, close Firefox, close all my windows, and restart my system. This takes a lot of minutes.

I have the newest Firefox with a lot of plugins and 60+ open pages,

my HDDs filled up very much.

Oh, and Vista uses (and all my work) my HDD a lot.

So, I'm just want to know why this occurs, because of what.

Thanks a lot in advance, Windows-Gurus!! :)

Sorry you haven't had a response, SkH, looks like you have brought up a new problem. A lot of people have read your post but nobody, as you can see, has been able to come up with an answer - yet.

I don't know anything about Vista so I'm not the best person to reply but, have you asked your service provider about this?

Another suggestion is what about any auto halt procedure in Vista itself that has been activated, unknown to you?

Yes I seen it... my problem is a special one, I know.

Thanks your only one reply, though.

It's not because the Internet - as I stated above - the problem is within the OS.

Hmm... I don't know anything about it... nobody used and uses my PC, just me.

What I meant was accidentally activated. It might be worthwhile looking in all the Internet settings on the machine to see if there is something that could have been clicked without you knowing.

How can you cope with so many tabs open - and do you need that many open at the same time?

I have 4 (maximum 5) tabs open at a time and that's all I can manage without getting confused - but that may be due to old age :(

Try working with (much) less tabs open.

Lot of tabs open as pops says and CS3 is an intensive application on its own. Not too sure on Vista myself but I do know it needs a fair bit of RAM to run smoothly, at least 2Gb. How much RAM do you have, what CPU [size and power] - size of hard drive and how much free space on drive please?

Not the same time, just opened them and I look them. They are important pages for me. I just can't close them.

Yeah, it's much better with less tabs, but as I said above I just can't close them!

Okay, I closed some, now I have 48.

I don't use CS3 Cue Server (or what). But soemtimes I use Photoshop for example...

I have 1GB RAM. Vista Ultimate. Pentium 4 3GHz. 160GB HDD, 40GB for Vista. On C [Vista] it have 2GB of free space, sometimes more, Vista uses it, I think. As for my other partition, it's have 4GB.

Okay, I know, I need more RAM and a bigger HDD, but... I get them later.

I just want to have a good stable Net connection right now...

But what do you think? I need some more things to upgrade? (CPU maybe?)

Yeah, it's much better with less tabs, but as I said above I just can't close them!

??????????????????????

I don't understand this. If I want to close a tab in Firefox all I need to do is click on the red X to the right of the tab header and it closes.

I said above that I work with five or so tabs open but, during a day's computing I suppose I must open and close fifty or so tabs without any problems at all.

Ooh well.. this happened to me in 55 hours after the startup... I think it's not Firefox. (And, before I used another tabbed browser wich is, slower, but not cut my Net connection!!) It's something like a time-bomb!

I wonder, what's going on?!

Can you explain why you need to have approx 50 Firefox tabs open at the same time ?

Exactly what are you doing ? - are all the pages actively doing something ?

Aahh!! WELL!!! FINALLY SOMEONE!!!!!!! :)

Well... it's like my Favourites. I watch them everytime.

Just browsing! :D Really!!! ;) (With my favourites opened all the time... :))

Um... one page I know about is have a little frame wich is refleshing ilsef in every ~10 sec.

Are you using TabBrowser Preferences ?

Are you using a lot of other add-ons as well ?

TabBrowser Perefences?!

Yeah a lot of addons installed and some of them (the half) blocked.

I do not understand what you mean by this !

If you're convinced that it is Firefox .......... then I guess that somehow Firefox is gradually using up all your CPU cycles until a point where something stops ?

Why don't you post your question in the specialist Firefox Support forum ? - (they are far more expert in Firefox problems than I am :) )

Good luck !

What happens if you use another browser? IE7 ? Opera?

What do you mean by

I have a Net-connection cut issue

?

when this happen , you get disconnected from the internet?

the computer shuts down?

Do you lose your IP address?

If you still have an IP , can you ping google? can you ping 66.249.89.99 ?

can you ping your DNS server? can you ping the router?

Firefox is a browser which uses the internet but I don't think it can lead to disconnecting from the internet.

When it happens next time, open your terminal ( click start>run>cmd)

and input the following commands

press enter after each and paste the output in your next post

ping www.google.com

ping 66.249.89.99

ping 192.168.1.1

the last command is pinging your router , I assumed it's address is 192.168.1.1 but I could be wrong

to find your router and DNS server address go to control panel>network connections>locla area connection , click on the local area connection icon and then click the 'support' tab. the router IP should be the 'default gateway' . If you click on 'details' you can see your DNS server's IP

once you find these addresses you can use them to ping your router and your DNS server, paste the output here , it might help to solve your problem or at least identify it better.
