Over the last few weeks it has become quite common for emails that have been sent to us to go missing completely, or more frequently get delayed and stacked up somewhere for long periods of time.

This morning (Sun 12th Aug at about 10.30 am) we received 24 emails. 4 dated 9th Aug, 15 dated 10 Aug. and 4 dated 11 Aug.. latest time 06:58. (One of those sent on the 10th only 'travelled" from a near neighbour about half a mile away!)

I know for sure that we were sent three yesterday p.m. but they too must be stacked up somewhere, or have slipped through a hole in the wire.

Is anyone else suffering this excellent service? Our ISP is the famed and acclaimed Onetel, one component in the Carphone Whorehouse menagerie. It is from one of its other compent parts (AOL) that many of our emails go missing (though we do get them from the same source now by using Yahoo.com mail )

We have no problem sending emails or web browsing. It is going to be quicker to receive via 2nd class Royal Mail before long.

Linux Ubuntu 7

Firefox/Thunderbird

BT Voyager205 router

Edit....missed full stop....smacked botty.

edit 2....Thanks rong . Well I was only one key out.

My email systems work perfectly except for one client in Canada.

I have an @btinternet.com address, several @mycompany.com addresses, a gmail, a yahoo mail and so on.

For some reason, my emails to the Canadian address almost (but not quite) always go astray. Likewise the emails from them to me.

This is particularly galling as contact with them is extremely valuable and potentially worth a seven figure sum.

I've had to rig up my old FAX system again (after years in the odds & sods box) to keep up contact.

BT is unable to offer any explanation - as much as they can explain by working from a script somewhere in Asia so I'm stuck with 1990's technology in order to revolutionise the American lumber industry.

At least I didn't have to resort to Telex (remember that?)

it is now Sun. 12 Aug.14.24 and damn me if I have not just had another load of late arrivals. 7 more from 10th Aug, and 2 more from 11th Aug. One of these was timed earlier than one received earlier this morning. The other was dated 10.19. So we have not yet had anything in that has been sent in the last 24 hours.

Well done Onetel. I am sure there must be some sort of award for which this sort of service qualifies.

Today (18th Aug) I received the following from Onetel.:-

Thank you for your recent email.

Sorry for my delay in replying to your query.

I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience this will have been causing you.

I can confirm that our mail server is encountering problems, resulting in

mail being delayed once sent.

Our network engineers are working on the issue as their highest priority.

Unfortunately I do not have a specific time for when the issue will be

resolved.

If I can help you with anything else please reply or call us on 0845 818

8179.

Once again..My apologies for the inconvenience this will be causing you.

Regards,

Paul/OneTel

I sent my last complaint to them on the 12th Aug. So, it is nice to see that they are treating this matter with some urgency.

It is also interesting that they have different levels of priority. I always thought that a priority was something to be dealt with prior to anything else, and therefore there could only be one.

What a shower.
