-pops- Posted August 15, 2007 Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 There are a number of programs that think they are so wonderful that all applications should be opened with then - Photoshop being one.Try this: RIGHT click on the file name and click on "Open with". You should then see a box with Windows own selection of suitable programs that will open the file (or you can browse to find your own). Click on the program you want to open the file and you will be asked if you always want that type of file to be opened with that program choose yes or no and confirm.What this will not do, however, is change the icon that represents that file type. I always selct NONE. That way I can use the program as and when I want. In other words, if I want a picture to appear in Photo Shop Elements for editing, I can open the program, and click on File/Open, and then browse to the picture folder and select the one that I want. This applies to any other photo editing programs that I may want to use for various reasons. As you said, "tick none", I don't remember what Idid tick, maybeI will uninstall Adobe and reinstall it. Wat's happening is EVERY pic wants to be opened by Photoshop, that wasn't always the case. Anything would be better then having to chose "open with" everytime. The general folder, "my pictures" does not show "open with" when right clickedTo Pop,. artist Posted August 17, 2007 Report Share Posted August 17, 2007 I don't know about Photoshop but in Pant Shop Pro, if you aren't looking, all the saving will be done as a psp file instead of a jpeg - so clicking on those particular pics will open PSP to see them.I do remember that when I first installed PSP I had the same problem though - I imagine I must have ticked - or not - something on the preferences. Click "Open with" and then "Choose program" You will the be offered a selection of programs to select.
