Outlook Express has stopped picking up my mail!

Recommended Posts

Good Morning One and All!

For some reason, my OE has been unable to access my accounts with Wanadoo and Yahoo since last night. The Passwords are still the same as I've been using Mailwasher Pro to check these accounts for Spam etc., and they show me that the e-mails are there and in fact get rid of the spoof e-mails no problem. However.....OE tries to download the e-mails that are acceptable and I get an error message!

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'pop.wanadoo.co.uk', Server: 'pop.wanadoo.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0133

Can anyone help me sort this out as I've restored the PC to a Checkpoint when I knew that OE was working..... to no avail?

Help?

Gordy

Server Name: smtp.orangehome.co.uk

Thanks to everyone who's posted so far but the problem persists.

The link Irene left...I tried but after transferring a proportion of the inbox to a new folder as instructed... it gave up and said it couldn't move anymore!!!.

Renaming my wanadoo account to orange didn't work either and it obviously wasn't the answer to the Yahoo e-mails being downloaded. Does this mean I have no option but to uninstall OE, losing everything, and re-installing in the hope that this will solve the problem? Gulp? :(

Gordy

PS Everytime I log onto OE now I get the message "Outlook Express was unable to send a receipt"

What's going on?

This is a link to the Outlook Express Solution Centre...

HERE

I'll take a look through there myself as well.

The menu on the left-hand side will guide you through the topics.

P.S. Just had a thought... I had Mailwasher Free (not Pro) and had a similar problem downloading in Outlook (not Express). I uninstalled Mailwasher and I've had no problem since.

Could you perhaps just disable Mailwasher briefly, then try to collect your mail in Express?

OK Folks.....thanks for all the help......I've stopped scratching my head....downloaded Thunderbird...imported all my contacts, e-mails etc., checked to see if it worked with my e-mails.....and YES!!!!!!!

"Thunderbirds are Go!"

Whether or not I try to use OE again is up for debate at the moment but as long as Thunderbird works......??

Thanks again

Gordy

you might wish to add a comment tooutlook express problems to tell them how this has been partially sorted?

when did you last fully scan your computer to see if you have picked up anything bugs wise that may have corrupted the outlook express program ?

and have you made thunderbirds your default email client?

what you COULD try is to switch back to OE AS default and just see if it WILL let you now download emails?

I just had the same problem. I came to this page and tried doing what the few people above said and I still couldn't get it to work. Finally, I ran into this tutorial on this page here, and I was able to do the following:

Make a second folder called Inbox2 in Outlook

Transfer or move half of my emails into that folder.

Wellah, that was it.

I guess in my case it was caused by me having too many emails in one folder in Outlook. Even though Thunderbird and Outlook are different, the codes seem to give the same hint as to what's wrong when your connecting.

I hope this information will help others down the road as it has done to me.
