Hello everyone,

I’d like to use this opportunity to present to you our site. It’s called "Under The Mat" and it opened on Saturday 18th to be exact. Under The Mat forums include discussions about almost everything that covers this planet, but it’s mainly about one of the most attractive sports in this world, wrestling. Several federations, whether it’s about WWE, spoilers, results and news will be discussed, graphics, entertainment, music and video games and anything related in general is a part of UTM as well. If you’re into writing and just a creative person, the E-Federation is the place to attend at. We run on the Cobalt skin and me and my staff crew would like to welcome you to the site. Here’s the link:

New registrations and the will to contribute to the boards are gladly appreciated. We’re looking forward to your visit. See you around and stay out of trouble.

Now now andsome........ some people like wrestling and some people like golf! Each to their own and all that.

My son-in-law is mad on wrestling...

I appreciate the fact that we all have our own likes and dislikes. My point is that wrestling can hardly be called sport, it is just acting, and usually very badly done. Just think about it, if even a tiny fraction of the actions were genuine, all the so called matches would end in certain death.

The main difference between Professional and Amateur wrestling is that Pro-Wrestling is not a sport. While amateur wrestling is a combination of pins, holds and maneuvers, pro-wrestling is essentially a brawl. It is often referred to as "punch/kick" and while an element of competition remains, Pro-Wrestling is intended as entertainment.

Quoted from here.

In my late teens, in Bradford, I was a member of a wrestling and weight lifting club (we did not do the two at the same time). It was great fun and, at the time, I thought it was healthy exercise. I have suffered long term discomforts in the recent past which I think I can trace back to injuries which occurred both there and on the rugby field.

However I did meet some interesting people. One member of the club was a chap called Bernard Murray who, although a professional wrestler, trained with our amateur club. When wrestling later featured on TV he often appeared . He was a very nimble, agile, lightweight chap with a great sense of humour. He later appeared regularly as a referee.

I met him by chance in Bradford some years later when he was in his sixties. Oh dear. The play acting, to which he openly admitted, had taken it's toll. Even the carefully rehearsed moves were tough on the body.

Les Kellett was another Bradford wrestler with whom I was acquainted, (his brother, or maybe cousin, played rugby in our team). His was the same story. Metal fatigue.
