W98 Updates

My No.2 daughter's old HP PC was passed on to a friend some while back. Things have now come home to roost. I've been asked to sort it out so a re-format is called for. It runs W98SE. All the driver disks are to hand but I need to get hold of all the updates since the SE disk was issued. Any help out there?

>Boris you've been tinkering around with renovating old PC's any suggestions?

I have a full set of updates (I believe) - 140 MB - each with a link to the related MS documentation on what its for.

I also have a copy of the UNOFFICIAL Windows98 SE Service Pack 2.1a

If you want them sent to you on a CD - just let me know :)

I remember that reinstalling Windows 98 was real easy if you did it with a batch setup script. Run Batch98 on the existing Windows 98 installation, save the resulting bsetup.inf file on the boot floppy, then reinstall Windows 98 with the setup script as a parameter, e.g.

E:\setup.exe /is A:\bsetup.inf

I remember that I always modified (added) the Display and Monitor options in the setup script to make the Windows installation even faster. See some of my very old notes on the equally old web pages from 1995: H:\setup.exe /is C:\Windows\bsetup.inf

Note 2.1A gives a look a like WME desktop but it works.
