byte_man
I have used a software (free from US Govt) package for a number of years called 'Savings Bond Wizard. I am using ver 4.13, which I believe to be the latest. I recently migrated to Windows Vista, and all seemed well with this app until today. When I tried to update the 'redemption tables', which downloads the latest rates from the web, I got the error "download unsuccessful.... unable to open local file". This may have been the first time I have tried this update since switching to Vista (been a while since I updated my bond inventory). My fear is that this program may be incompatible with Vista, as the support site does not offer Vista as a selection on it's OS dropdown.Anyone have a similar experience - and maybe a solution ?? -pops-
This may not be the best place to ask your question. WF is UK based - thus the majority of the membership will have little or no knowledge of US Govt. Savings Bonds. There are US members and they may be able to help but, in the meantime, have you asked at source i.e the issuers of the software if there is a compatibility problem with Vista and, if there is, are they going to remedy it? andsome
You could of course alway post a question on The Pitstop forum. It is US based and has a very large membership.

Why don't you surf a bit and find out? I do not think that is a problem with vista.

andsome
In all honesty I don't think that I would even consider buying any bond or indeed any form of investment from the U.S. government at present. They are even worse than the British and other European governments.
