trackrat Posted November 15, 2007 Report Share Posted November 15, 2007 If you are looking for longevity, I would wait for the X38 boards to become mainstream, as DDR3 memory is expensive at the moment.And unless you are into overclocking why pay £150 for an all singing all dancing motherboard, when a board like this will still allow you to try overclocking and is £60 cheaper.ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP AiLifestyle Series P35 Socket 775 Socket eSATA 8 channel Audio ATX MotherboardYour choice of graphics is a good one but make sure you have a good PSU to power the set up you are after, you are looking at Tagan, Seasonic, Antec or OCZ 600watts and upwards and they are not cheap.The best cases at the moment come from Coolermaster and Lian.For memory go to the Crucial site and use their memory selector, once you know what your motherboard is going to be.As for CPU cooling have a look at the Artic Pro this is quiter than thestandard Intel cooler Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

trackrat Posted November 15, 2007 Report Share Posted November 15, 2007 The choice of motherboard is up to you all I said was why pay over the odds unless you are into hardcore overclocking.You will be looking at 3 to 4 months for the X38 to become mainstream but will the price of DDR3 have dropped by then, that is the question.If you are sticking with XP don't waste money on 4GB of RAM as it will not recognise all of it unless you have XP64 bit OS. So all is good! Except, they didn't have the 8800GT, they say that they will have that in next week or the week after, but if I get some real progress done, I will just get it from somewhere else!
