It didn't detect anything and had a noticeable slowing effect on my system, so eventually I stopped using it. CyberHawk is a free version of a security product made by Novatix and has now been re-named ThreatFire.Advanced behaviour-based detectors like these are probably worth while for adventurous surfers and people who use the Internet for transmiting a lot of of personal information. Not really applicable to me.If you search on "Zero day protection" you can read read a number of interesting articles about the whole subject, some saying it can be done, some saying it can't be done. Zero-day malware, by the way, basically refers to malware for which there's no signature (or patern) yet. It works by detecting changes to the behaviour of the computer. One of the simplest examples is WinPatrol, which does detect changes that even Defender doesn't detect, by the way, and which I still use.Also have a look at Zero Day Protection in Wikipedia.Why don't one of you give it a try and let us know how you get on with it? -pops- Posted November 15, 2007 Report Share Posted November 15, 2007 My adventure days are over - no more stepping into the unknown for me, I afraid :) I've been caught out before installing untested software into machines. The contents of my computers these days are too valuable to be messed about with and, although I have full backups, I'd rather not be put to that trouble unless absolutely necessary.I agree that the A squared anti-malware program is good but, I didn't install that either until I was convinced that it was reliable. trackrat Posted November 18, 2007 Report Share Posted November 18, 2007 So far so good.It is a little like Za, you have to train it.Every time you use something that changes a registry entry it alerts you and asks you what to do.The beauty of it is, that it tells you what is being altered and explains what is trying to alter it, so you can allow once, always or deny.Up Till now I have had no problems with it.It is similar to Spybot S & D tea timer. trackrat Posted December 17, 2007 Report Share Posted December 17, 2007 Update as the 30 day trial is over.It has run faultlessly for the 30 days and I would recommend it except for one glitch that I encountered when trying to uninstall it.It would not uninstall itself, I had to go into the registry and delete all the settings from there, and it uses part of the a2 squared dll, so I had to be careful what I deleted.It is a shame that the uninstaller spoilt what is a very good program.
