Connect your drive to the computer, click start / right click my computer / click manage / click disk management / the drive should show up in there / right click it and select initialize then format it to NTFS.

If initialize does not show in the right click menu just format it and it will be assigned a drive letter every time it is plugged in then.

Were there no written instructions with it when you bought it? :D

P.S. When you finally get it up and running, don't whatever you do just switch it off when you have finished using it. When on, a small icon will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Click on that and select the option to disconnect. Only told it is safe to do so do you switch off or unplug.
