Flight simulator

One of our local friends has a son who is about 9 years old. There are a couple of small airfield fairly locally and of course these have made the lad think about slight simulators. His father has no real interest in computers other than as virtually obligatory tools in his garage business. He has an elderly 98SE machine left over from his "Modernisation" a couple of years ago and he was asking if I knew of anything that would run on that.

My experience of these programmes is limited to a Chuck Jager? flight simulator which was about in the Win3.1 era and which was, to put it mildly, dire.

Does the committee know of anything "passable", that would run on an elderly 98SE set up, with possibly a bit of tweaking?

I do not know the spec. of his machine, but I am certain that "cutting edge" would be totally inappropriate.

I can only offer advice in a negative sense.

When I had a Windows ME computer someone gifted me a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

It proved to be impossible - nothing ever crashed - but only because it refused to take off.

Hence the MS offering is not likely to be suitable.

Was that the M$ safety version, or the Carbonless Footprint version?
