Netscape Navigator R.I.P

By any standard IE has proved to be the greatest browser yet developed - that's why 80% of people use it. IE may not be the most convenient, the most stable, the best looking etc - but it is the most popular and has dominated the browser market for years - despite the best efforts of Firefox and others.

It would be as it comes 'bundled' with Windows so has a virtual monopoly which is why the European Union has intervened with Windows Media Player for example.

I used to use Netscape all the time but stopped almost immediately AOL bought it. (My view of AOL is similar to that of Symantec - never will either enter my machines.)

I didn't know that AOL bought it.

I hope that the Netscape browser performs better than the AOL browser as I used to use it when I was with AOL and it was usually 'not responding' and had to be shut down regularly

When I first went on line with NTL, Netscape installed with the rest of the software. later on I.E. became default. No one can really say that I.E. is the cause of the downfall of Netscape, the end user is ultimately the one who decided what is the flavour of the month. No one compelled me to change, I did it out of curiosity. :D
