doug
I've got 2 optical drives - a CD-RW and a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108. I have burnt a couple of DVD's recently with no problems. I went to do another one at the weekend and it now seems to be duff. Trying to read a cd and i hear a sort of scraping noise just after it spins up the disc. Trying to open the files on there and nothing is displayed. Yet the drive is reported as being OK. Is it worth opening up and having a firkle or, given the cost of these things, should I just bin it? If so any recommendations as to a replacement at a reasonable price please.
AlanHo
I would bin it.I am happy with my two LG burners in my new Vista computerSee here
-pops-
I would bin it as well. In fact, I've done just that with one of my drives this afternoon. They're so cheap that if you were charging for your time, it would cost more to remove and replace the new one than it costs so fiddling about trying to repair the old is a most definite no-no. r4may
Bin It, new writers from £16.00 make it not worth the effort trying to fix. See Novatech at http://www.novatech.co.uk/
