MacOSXrocksToo Posted February 14, 2008 Report Share Posted February 14, 2008 Why is it that when I type CTRL+ALT+DEL, and click on the "Processes" tab, explorer.exe is using about 29,000K's of memory, but when I quit the process and restart it, it only uses about 24,000K's of memory?! Is there any way to fix this? Is it a problem? Also, svchost uses about the same as explorer.exe too.....What's up with this?Thanks! :DAlso, I am editing, I noticed that explorer actually over time (about 7 minutes) increases to about 27,000K after restarting the explorer.exe process. Just checked two of my machines - one at 28,080 the other at 29,000.Since starting this, the first machine (this one) has risen to 29,040.Is this causing a real problem to you? If not, I suggest you forget about it. There can be huge numbers of difficulties caused by trying to sort out non-existent problems and if your machine is working satisfactorily, best to leave things alone.(It's now 28,116). And I don't want explorer.exe hogging most of my 512 MB memory. Also, whats the deal with svchost? How much memory does yours usually stick around?Thanks! No other programmes are running in the task bar other than task manager.I have two instances of explorer.exe shown. One at 92,684K and the other at 44,256K. My RAM is showing 42% utilisation.If I close IE7, the 44,256K one vanishes and the 92,684K instance drops to 92,340K. RAM utilisation then shows at 34%.
