Registry Backup

Note: The "Export registry" function in Regedit is USELESS (!) to make

a complete backup of the registry. Neither does it export the whole

registry (for example, no information from the "SECURITY" hive is

saved), nor can the exported file be used later to replace the current

registry with the old one. Instead, if you re-import the file, it is

merged with the current registry, leaving you with an absolute mess of

old and new registry keys

Hold on ellas

Even

if you dont like it uninstall and use the reg backup to get rid of the left over from the program

You dont get rid of the old files ellas you just merge the registry

what you need to do as you have rightly said is to remove the "string" yourself and evn then you could inadvertantly remove the incorect string

Have you tried Vilma Registry Explorer. This allows you to search the registry for leftovers from uninstalled programs. Just type in the the name & search & it will show everything with that name. You can then choose what to delete & it automatically saves what you delete with a time & date. If you make a mistake you can either restore what you have deleted or one key at a time. No need to restore the whole registry. Great program.
